Grants from Award Funds

Grants from award funds recognize individuals for an outstanding achievement. The Foundation has established policies and procedures for scholarships and awards pursuant to the awarding of grants from funds where donor advisors have advisory privileges or participate in the selection of grant or award recipients. The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation has three funds from which education-related awards are made:

William B. & Elizabeth Behr Agocs Geophysical Research Fund
This fund provides an annual grant to the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary for awards for graduate research and education in the field of geophysics.

The Bethlehem Educational Scholastic Trust (B.E.S.T.) Fund
The B.E.S.T. Fund provides annual awards to recognize excellence in teaching in the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD). Award recipients are chosen by a committee of educators including former B.E.S.T. honorees. Students, parents, teachers, and BASD employees are welcome to nominate teachers for this award. Nomination forms are available from the School District's website at www.beth.k12.pa.us or by clicking here. Nominations must be submitted by April 30 each year and awards are presented at the School District's Opening Convocation.

Justin Sheftel Memorial Fund
Awards from the Fund will be made based on essays submitted by students in conjunction with speeches given at area high schools by the Sheftel family. The purpose of the award is to help educate students about the potential consequences of drunk driving and underage drinking.
