Lehigh Valley Synergy Fund Application Cycle Open Until October 16

Allentown, Pa., September 6, 2017— United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) and the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation (LVCF) are seeking applications for the Lehigh Valley Synergy Fund.  The fund is designed to help nonprofit partners improve and sustain community conditions.  The grant application period is now open until October 16, 2017

With over 1,400 nonprofit organizations serving the Lehigh Valley, it is critical that community partners recognize the power of collaboration, affiliation and efficiencies as stewards of our community’s resources. UWGLV and LVCF will lead and foster these relationships through the encouragement and support of nonprofit mergers by:

  1. Creating awareness and education about the types, benefits and resources needed to successfully carry out and sustain an affiliation between two or more nonprofit organizations, and,
  2. Promoting the availability of a shared “area of interest” fund providing support to nonprofits engaging in various levels of collaboration and beyond.

“Organizations identifying others with similar missions and services is a key first step,” explained Bernie Story, LVCF President and CEO. “Successful relationships typically require the support of both organizations’ leadership and board of directors. The Synergy Fund will help spark those connections.”

“We continue to have many conversations with donors, partners and community folks about how we can more effectively serve the Lehigh Valley,” said Marci Ronald, UWGLV Executive Vice President. “It’s about how we can work together as a community—better, smarter and faster. The Synergy Fund is an outgrowth of those conversations and is designed to help organizations partner and discover new found efficiencies that ultimately benefit the Lehigh Valley.”

Grant applications and proposals for the Lehigh Valley Synergy Fund (click for PDF application) are being accepted through October 16, 2017. All completed proposals and supporting documentation can be sent to Erika Riddle Petrozelli, LVCF Director of Donor Services, at (link sends e-mail).
