Veronica Gonzalez Joins the Community Foundation’s Board of Governors
Allentown, Pa., January 25, 2017—The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation has named Veronica Gonzalez, MBA, to its Board of Governors. Gonzalez serves as division administrator of Lehigh Valley Physician Group at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), where she oversees several community practices at the 17th Street location in Allentown, Pa.; offering specialized care in family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and multi-specialties.
The Board of Governors at the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation provide administrative, programmatic, and fiscal oversight in support of the organization's mission. Members of the Board serve as ambassadors, promoting the Community Foundation as a vehicle for philanthropy and a leader of community improvement.
Gonzalez's career progression has reflected the passion she has felt for the vulnerable and underinsured/uninsured patients in her community. She began her career with LVHN in 2005, first working as a secretary and later as a trained medical interpreter. Always an advocate for the underserved, she has held leadership positions overseeing the Interpreter Services Department of LVHN, the Centro de Salud– Latino Health Initiative, and the Center for Women’s Medicine at the 17th Street site of LVHN; where the community receives culturally-sensitive quality healthcare services.
Gonzalez has received several community service awards including the Hispanic Research Organization Award in 2014, the LHVN Service Star Award in 2015, and was a finalist in the Hospital Charitable Service Award for Centro de Salud in 2014. Most recently, she received the United Way Volunteer Leadership Award for 2015-16.
Gonzalez holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management Systems from DeSales University. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management from The Wescoe School of Muhlenberg College, after attending Northampton Community College and receiving an Associate of Arts degree in Health Care Administration.
