LVCF Participates at AFP Lehigh Valley Philantrophy Institute

Allentown, Pa., May 16, 2018—The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation participated in today's 2018 Lehigh Valley Philanthropy Institute, held by the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter. The day-long program was held on May 16, 2018 at the University Center at DeSales University. LVCF sponsored the Morning Keynote Session titled Amplifying Your Impact, presented by Anne Ferola, Director, Education & Strategic Partnerships, Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania. Approximately 20 guests of the Community Foundation, joined with the 200 attendees for the breakfast and keynote address.

Anne Ferola at AFP Lehigh Valley Philantrophy InstituteAnne Ferola presented to a talk explaining how funders and nonprofits can strive to achieve positive social impact. Based on ten years of applied research and analysis, Ferola presented CHIP’s definition of “high impact philanthropy,” and explored how these principles can be used by funders to guide their grantmaking and nonprofits to communicate the impact of their work.Ferola oversees the Center’s education programs, including student training and executive education, and generates and maintains key relationships with institutional funders, individual donors, and nonprofit practitioners.

Prior to this position, she led CHIP’s analysis of applications to the MacArthur Foundation’s 100 Change competition. She was a CHIP Fellow, researching topics such as donor motivators, alternative funding and finance tools, PRIs, and impact investing.Ferola is a board member of T&E Care, a social services organization in the Philadelphia suburbs. She previously served as a Trustee of the Foundation for Learning in redyffrin/Easttown (FLITE) and as a member of the Philadelphia chapter of One Mind for Research.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in English, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Miami.

Founded in 1986, the AFP Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter is a regional professional association whose membership is comprised of persons involved in development, public relations, non-profit management and fundraising consulting.  It is a chapter of the international organization, Association of Fundraising Professionals.  The majority of chapter members represent organizations in Lehigh and Northampton counties.  The Chapter currently has a membership of approximately 150 fundraising professionals.
