The Geoff Chenworth Memorial Fund
This temporary donor-advised fund was established in 2022 in memory of Geoff Chenworth to contribute to a scholarship fund that honors Geoff’s contribution to lacrosse in the Lehigh Valley.
Geoff Chenworth returned to Pennsylvania in the fall of 1999 after more than a decade in Dallas, Texas where at the time, there was very little opportunity to play or coach lacrosse. As soon as the spring of 2000 arrived, he dusted off his long stick and offered his time to teach lacrosse to players in the Schnecksville Playground Association (SPA.) Over the years he went on to Coach for several high schools including Parkland, Central Catholic and most recently, Northampton.
He loved the game and enjoyed sharing his passion for the sport with young men. He went beyond the game itself to shape his players into successful, well-rounded and resilient adults. He encouraged players to use the sport to further their education via scholarships and opportunities to play the game at some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country, which he did as a first-generation college student, graduating from Bucknell University as a four-year starter for the Bison men’s lacrosse team. While he enjoyed working with the top athletes from all around the Valley, he often focused his coaching and life lessons around players who started out with less athleticism, skill or resources than their peers, encouraging and molding them to have success through their heart, grit and determination.
Gifts to the Fund can be made by submitting a check, payable to The Geoff Chenworth Memorial Fund, to the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, 840 West Hamilton Street, Suite 310, Allentown, PA 18101. Gifts can also be made via credit card by clicking the link below.
