Pine Fund in Memory of Mildred Beck Pine

Established by a bequest from Louise Moore Pine, the Fund supports the Foundation’s discretionary grant making.

Louise Moore Pine was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1919.  She attended Montclaire College where she majored in music.  In 1947 she married Hugh Moore, founder of the Dixie Cup Company located in Easton, Pa.  The couple split their time between Easton, PA and Manhattan. During that time she became one of the first volunteer guides of the United Nations Building.  Following Mr. Moore’s death she deeded the 120-acre Slate Post Farm to Northampton County for use as a public park to be named after her.  In the 1980’s she married for the third time to lawyer Roswell Dean Pine.  At that time she became one of the first female members of Easton’s Pomfret Club.  She served as Vice-Chairman of Hugh Moore Historical Park and Museum and was a member of the Board of the Sun Inn Preservation Association.  She also served on the Women’s Board of Easton Hospital.  Louise Moore Pine died in 2009 at the age of 90.

Today Louise W. Moore Park can be found at Country Club Road in Lower Nazareth & Bethlehem Townships, Pa.. It is a 100-acre community park with picnic pavilions, hiking trails, playground, tennis courts, softball field, and community gardens.
