Endowment Fund to Further the Mission of Valley Youth House
Valley Youth House started in 1973 as a single shelter in the Lehigh Valley, for homeless and runaway youth. That first shelter was open day and night; ensuring the vulnerable, abused and homeless young people in the community had access to housing and counseling. Even then, Valley Youth House represented more than just a roof and beds. We were an organization committed to building a solid foundation for every individual who came through our doors.
That same dedication still drives us today, as we have grown from that first shelter in the Valley to over 250 residential facilities throughout 14 counties in Eastern Pennsylvania. Though our reach and programming have vastly expanded to include street outreach, skills training, counseling, health, prevention, and intervention services, our mission remains the same. We do whatever it takes to make sure that every young person we meet has a sturdy base upon which to build a healthy future.
Valley Youth House has grown into the largest provider of help and support to homeless youth and families in the Lehigh Valley. Every year, more than 30,000 children, youth, and families are served by Valley Youth House.
Valley Youth House established this quasi-endowed fund in 2016 in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. This is a special fund for the Community Foundation because it is the 200th charitable fund established at the Community Foundation!
