Welcome to the Keneseth Israel is Our Home Campaign Fund

In 1883, a group of Allentown Jewish merchants shared a vision—to create something unique to Allentown, a Jewish home for the Reform Jews of Allentown. They formed the “Young Ladies and Men’s Hebrew Society.” In 1903, Keneseth Israel was incorporated thereby creating a sanctuary that would provide an environment for Reform Jews to commune and worship on Shabbat, celebrate life cycle events, provide a Jewish education for their children, and provide solace and comfort for those in need. Imagine the pride in our founders’ eyes if they were alive to see our vibrant, connected, and caring community that they created, in our beautiful building, our Jewish home, Congregation Keneseth Israel!

Over the years, to maintain and nourish the home that we have created at KI has required love and patience but also substantial financial resources. The structure that currently houses us was built in 1955, and it requires upkeep and modernization. The goal of the the KI is Our Home Campaign is to raise $600,000 for the following purposes:

Replace our aged and antiquated HVAC system with a modern and more energy efficient system, one which also will be expanded to the religious school wing.
Make other energy efficient upgrades such as replacing interior and exterior lighting with more cost effective LED lighting and replacing current windows with double paned windows.
Beautify and modify our Bimah to make it accessible to those who have physical disabilities.

To accomplish our goal, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation.

KI IS our home and it has touched our lives. We invite YOU to participate in this Campaign; to give a meaningful gift that will help ensure that KI will continue to be the spiritual and religious home that we have created, for our children, their children, and beyond.
